Do social media links count as backlinks?

Now this question has been bugging most of SEO people for a while. First saw this question in Quora, then in other social media platforms.

For sure, some of you even tried to get backlinks or create backlinks from Youtube, Facebook or Linkedin or perhaps Twitter? So, what you think?

Does Social Media platforms really allow you to create backlinks?

Short answer is YES. But hold on a minute, second question probably comes to your mind.

Is it beneficial for my website or keywords rankings in search engines?

This is where the trickery of SEO world comes in.

Even of Social Medias allow backlinks in their posts, or in the comment sections, chances are they do not give you the benefit you are needing in terms of SEO.

Most if not all social media platforms allow links but these links are not necessarily beneficial to any rankings. It is not even giving your website a "link juice" which other websites are capable of.

Social media platforms however allow you to create a "no follow" links, and the purpose of which to point external sources to which your subject or any relevant information originated.

The best benefit you can get from social media links are organic traffic and this can only happen if you provide the best content or information which is relevant to what the post is all about.
